Job Description: Hydrogeologist – Key Responsibilities

As the Hydrogeologist on the project team, you’ll play a central role in the scientific and community-focused execution of groundwater management strategies.

Core Duties:

1. Technical Advisory: Guide NPMU on all hydrogeological components including aquifer recharge, monitoring networks, and groundwater quality.

2. Data Analysis: Develop and refine computer-based tools for hydrological data collection, modeling, and resource estimation.

3. GIS Integration: Design user-friendly GIS-based platforms for groundwater data visualization and community use.

4. Knowledge Transfer: Create systems to help Gram Panchayats access crop-water budgeting tools in local languages.

5. Institutional Linkages: Bridge communication between community-level stakeholders and water management institutions at district and state levels.

6. Reporting: Prepare analytical and technical reports, and contribute to semi-annual progress documentation.

7. Field Work: Conduct site visits, verify ground data, and supervise technical implementation at grassroots level.

8. Team Coordination: Act as Team Leader, managing multi-disciplinary teams (Communication, Gender, GIS, Agriculture, Environment, Social Development).

9. Stakeholder Engagement: Interact with civil society and farmer groups to promote grassroots participation in groundwater governance.

Eligibility Criteria

📘 Essential Qualification:

• Postgraduate Degree in Geology or Hydrogeology (recognized university or institution)

🧠 Experience:

• 15+ years in water sector, especially:

  • Hydrologic monitoring systems

  • Artificial Recharge (ARG) methods

  • Groundwater quality monitoring

  • Resource estimation methodology

  • GIS-based data analysis

• Experience working with:
