The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially released the SSC CGL 2025 Notification for the Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGL), inviting applications for 14,582 vacancies across various Group B and Group C posts in ministries and departments under the Government of India. Educational Qualification:

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized university as of 1st August 2025. For specific posts like Assistant Audit Officer or Statistical Investigator, additional qualifications such as CA/CS or Bachelor’s in Statistics may be required.

Age Limit (as on 01-08-2025):

Permissible Age Relaxations:

• SC/ST: 5 years

• OBC: 3 years

• PwBD (UR): 10 years

• PwBD (OBC): 13 years

• PwBD (SC/ST): 15 years

• Ex-Servicemen: 3 years after deduction of service

• Central Govt Employees: Up to 45 years (SC/ST), Up to 40 years (others)

• Widows/Divorced Women: Up to 35 years (General), 40 years (SC/ST)

Application Fee

• General/OBC: ₹200/-

Selection Process Explained: Tier-Wise Criteria, Cut-offs & Final Merit

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the detailed mode of selection for SSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) 2025, laying out the exact qualifying marks, exam structure, and merit list preparation rules for different categories and posts. Candidates preparing for this competitive examination must understand these criteria to plan their preparation effectively.

Summary of SSC CGL 2025 Selection Criteria

The selection process for SSC CGL 2025 consists of two tiers of computer-based examinations, with qualifying and scoring sections, merit-based cut-offs, and post-specific requirements like DEST and CPT.

To qualify, candidates must secure minimum marks as per their category:

Minimum Qualifying Marks:

• General (UR): 30%

• OBC / EWS: 25%

• Others (SC/ST/PwD, etc.): 20%

Maximum Errors Allowed in DEST (Tier-II, Paper-I, Section-IV):

• UR: 20%

• OBC / EWS: 25%

• Others: 30%

Tier-II Detailed Evaluation Method

1. All candidates must attempt all four sections of Paper-I.

2. Candidates exempted from DEST will skip Section-IV.

3. Only candidates shortlisted for JSO/Statistical Investigator posts need to appear in Paper-II.

4. Section-I & Section-II of Paper-I will be used to shortlist candidates for evaluation of Section-III & IV.

5. Candidates must qualify all sections to be eligible for final selection.

6. Section-III (Computer Knowledge Test) and Section-IV (DEST) are qualifying in nature but with higher cut-offs for specific posts.

Final Merit List Criteria

Final merit will be based on Tier-II performance only:

Preference for posts will be taken before result declaration, and once submitted, cannot be changed. Candidates not submitting preferences will not be considered in the final result.
