Eligibility Criteria for NITK Library Trainee Recruitment 2025

To be eligible for the Library Trainee posts at NITK, candidates must fulfill the following criteria:

Educational Qualification

• Candidates must have a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science (M.L.I.Sc.) or equivalent from a recognized Indian university.
• A first-class score in M.L.I.Sc. is mandatory.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 26 years (as on the closing date of application).
• Relaxations in the upper age limit will be applicable for SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/PwD candidates as per Government of India norms.

Skills Preferred

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Passion for learning and working with emerging library technologies.
• Willingness to work in shifts and on weekends.

Nature of Training & Job Responsibilities

The selected Library Trainees will undergo a “Learn while you work” training in the Central Library of NITK Surathkal. The responsibilities include:

• Supporting day-to-day library operations.
• Assisting with digital library initiatives.
• Managing cataloguing, circulation, and reference services.
• Working in shifts, including weekends, on a rotation basis.

This position is meant purely for training purposes and does not guarantee future absorption into the institute.

Selection Process for NITK Library Trainee Posts

The selection process will consist of:

1. Written Test – Based on library science topics and general aptitude.
2. Personal Interview – Assessing subject knowledge, communication skills, and aptitude.

Shortlisting will be based on academic performance and the submitted application. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the written test or interview.
