Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed 12th grade from a recognized educational institution. Additionally, they should have credit of representing State, National, or International levels in hockey. Certificates from non-State/Central Boards must be accompanied by Government of India notifications equating them to 12th pass.

Sports Qualification

Applicants should have:

  • Represented India in Senior/Junior International Tournaments, or
  • Represented State team in National Games/Championships (Senior/Junior), or
  • Won a medal in All India Inter-University Championship, or
  • Secured a Gold Medal in National School Games/Championship.

Participation should be within the period from 01/01/2023 to 30/05/2025.

Age Limit

Candidates should be between 18 to 23 years as on 01/08/2025. They should not have been born earlier than 02/08/2002 and later than 01/08/2007. Age relaxation is applicable as per government norms:

  • SC/ST: Up to 5 years
  • OBC: Up to 3 years
  • Departmental Candidates (with 3+ years of service): Up to 45 years (SC/ST), 40 years (Gen/EWS/OBC)

Selection Process

The selection process is meticulously designed to assess the candidates’ proficiency in hockey and their physical standards. It comprises two main stages:

Stage 1: Physical & Sports-Based Evaluation

  1. Trial Test: Candidates undergo a trial in hockey. The test is of 20 marks, and a minimum of 10 marks is required to qualify. Those who score less than 10 marks are disqualified.
  2. Proficiency Test: Only those who qualify the Trial Test are called for this test. It carries 40 marks, and a minimum of 20 marks is required to qualify. Candidates are judged on hockey skills and game proficiency. Final merit will include these marks plus bonus marks (up to 10) for certificates.
  3. Physical Standard Test (PST): Height requirement is 153 cm (relaxation applicable to certain categories like ST and hilly region candidates). No chest measurement is required for female candidates. Weight is recorded but not a disqualifier at this stage.
  4. Documentation: Candidates must present original certificates for education (12th pass), age proof (10th mark sheet), caste (if applicable), sports participation (from 01.01.2023 to 30.05.2025), hockey achievements (recognized by national/state sports bodies), identity proof, passport-sized photographs, and NOC (if employed in government sector).

Stage 2: Medical Examination

Candidates who qualify in the above stages will undergo a detailed medical examination to assess their fitness for the role.
