Who is Eligible to Apply?

Essential Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be retired as a Section Officer, Assistant Registrar, Personal Assistant, or Private Secretary from the High Court of Bombay (including its benches).
  • Must not have been dismissed, compulsorily retired, or prematurely retired.
  • Must be physically and mentally fit to carry out the duties.
  • Age should not exceed 65 years at the time of application.
  • No departmental inquiry should be pending or proposed, and no disciplinary punishment should have been imposed.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have worked in the Judicial Wing of the court.

Nature of Duties for Resource Personnel

The appointed Resource Personnel will play a critical role in helping the court manage its caseload, particularly by handling older and potentially infructuous matters.

Core Duties Include:

  1. Scrutiny of old matters based on lists provided by the Registry.
  2. Evaluating whether:
    • The cause of action still survives (e.g., Writs related to educational admissions).
    • Connected trial court proceedings are still pending.
    • Petitions have lapsed due to non-compliance with court directions.
  3. Performing allied tasks and assisting the Registrar (Judicial) in related matters to help reduce pending cases.

These responsibilities will be assigned specifically by the Registrar (Judicial-I) for Bombay and respective Registrars for the Nagpur and Aurangabad benches.

Selection Process

The selection will be based on merit and performance in a personal interview, which candidates must attend at their own expense.

Shortlisted applicants will be notified of the date and time of the interview by the High Court. Final selection will depend on their professional track record and the interview evaluation.

Salary and Allowances of Bombay High Court Recruitment 2025

The salary for Resource Personnel will be fixed based on Government Resolution No. Sankirn 2715/Pra.Kra.100/13 dated 17/12/2016 and updated on 08/09/2023, as follows:

  • The salary will be equal to the Basic Pension (excluding commutation) plus Dearness Allowance (DA) as applicable at the time of appointment.
  • The salary amount will remain fixed for the entire duration of the contract.
  • No additional benefits like HRA, medical reimbursement, or pension contributions will be provided.

This structure ensures consistency with government norms while maintaining fairness to retired personnel.

Tenure and Conditions of Service

Contract Period:

  • Initial appointment will be for one year, which may be renewed annually up to a maximum of three years.
  • The court retains the right to terminate the contract at any time, even before one year, if deemed necessary.
  • Resource Personnel may resign with a one-month notice or by paying one month’s salary in lieu.
  • The Chief Justice reserves the authority to waive the notice period or salary condition.

Important to Note:

  • Resource Personnel are not considered regular employees of the High Court.
  • The post is purely ad hoc and contractual in nature.

The appointed candidates must uphold a high standard of integrity and professionalism, as their work involves sensitive court records.

They must:

  • Maintain confidentiality of all judicial documents and information they access.
  • Ensure no information is leaked through documents, discussions, or other means.

  • Conduct themselves with discipline, discretion, and due diligence during their assignment.
